Renata Buziak is a Polish born photographic artist living in Brisbane since 2001. Her multi-award winning artwork has been exhibited in Australia and overseas and is held in public and private collections. In 2010 she published a selection of her work in the book Afterimage.
During the presentation on 23rd March Renata will show her artwork, talk about her techniques and her current project with North Stradbroke Island flora. She is working with plants that are traditionally used for medicinal purposes. She will discuss her plans and protocols for the coming months whereby she will be inviting members of the Quandamooka community to share their stories about the plants specifically identified by the Quandamooka people.
The project aims to represent specific medicinal plants in experimental photography and increase awareness about each plant's significance. This work is part of Renata’s PhD studies at the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University.
