‘Afterimage’ presents depictions of places and occurrences experienced in my childhood. These memories stored in and recalled by memory, altered by imagination, dreams and new events -were the inspiration for this series. Memories that put a smile on my face and memories that haunt me in my dreams. These images of mundane events from childhood, events sweet and painful, breathtaking and scary, colourful and dark, helped to thread together a little journey through my early days in Poland, from a period when the passage of time, worries and concerns did not exist; or did they? ...
Renata Buziak 'Afterimage' publication project - Sponsorship Opportunity Proposal
The Queensland Centre for Photography (QCP) will produce a high quality 40 page book (1000 copies) of ‘biochrome’ works by Renata Buziak. This publication of innovative photographic works, created by a unique image making process the ‘biochrome’, will be accompanied by an essay by Dr Victoria Garnons-Williams in English and Polish and distributed to libraries, galleries, book shops and community. Dr Garnons-Williams is a lecturer of visual arts at The Queensland University of Technology with experience as a researcher and writer specialising in contemporary art and photo media.
The book will be launched during the most important biannual photography event in the state - the Queensland Festival of Photography in April 2010, allowing exposure to a broad audience including art collectors, industry professionals and the public with the involvement of over 25 galleries and institutions across the state. Sponsors will benefit by being featured in the festival’s website, a catalogue of events and promotional materials, as well as by supporting this vital educational resource and a significant stage of an artist’s career development.
I would like to invite you to take the opportunity to connect with a wider audience by being featured in this publication. There are 2 sponsorship categories (that could be tailored to your circumstances): Gold Sponsorship of $1000 - large logo or name featured in the book, 12 free books and an artist talk for your company, or an up to 3 month display of selected works at your premises; Silver Sponsorship of $500 – small logo and 6 free books. All sponsors will be featured on websites, invitations and a launch event advertised to substantial mailing lists. Alternatively, you can support the project with a tax-deductible donation. We are working with the Australia Business Arts Foundation (AbaF). AbaF has confirmed that our supporters can make a tax-deductible donation to AbaF’s Australia Cultural Fund, requesting that AbaF apply it to the Queensland Centre for Photography for costs associated with the book's publication.
This publication, supported by Queensland College of Art Griffith University, will be developed and published by the Queensland Centre for Photography (QCP), an artist-run organization developing and promoting Queensland’s photo-media art. The QCP’s previous outstanding publishing and marketing strategies have proven to be very successful in promoting other local artists and will be employed to promote this project (previous QCP’s 5 publications include Marian Drew, Ray Cook and Joachim Froese).
